A children’s book about leadership, perseverance and self-confidence.

— Wayne Watson, The Author

Reading to my five grandchildren, I found children’s books to be missing a bit of “umpf” and life-teachable moments. I believe children understand more than we realize and have strong innate traits, such as leadership, that we need to acknowledge and nurture.

I was looking for books that could give my grandchildren guidance in what they were living today with their school friends and activities, as well as books that could model strong skills for the future.

And so, I created this book about a gosling named Stella, who has a big dream of being the leader for her family flock. Through Stella’s story, children will learn the ups and downs of becoming a group leader and the qualities needed to achieve this role.

For you, busy parent of little ones, I know the time you spend reading books to your children could be the most one-on-one time you’ve had together all day. In the nine minutes it takes to read this book (we’ve timed it!), you will be able to make this sacred time well spent. Your child will be exposed to essential life skills they can start using the very next day at the park, at home, in daycare, or at school.

This book has been kid-tested and approved by the real-life inspired goslings…

Brigitte Gourdeau is a native of Quebec City. She studied visual arts in college and then pursued her artistic path in France and Switzerland, where she honed her skills in sketching, watercolours, collages painting, sculpture, engraving and photography. Having spent thirteen years in Europe, Brigitte felt a yearning to return to her homeland to wide open spaces, Nordic forests and the St. Laurence River. Her studio is nestled in Beaupré, Quebec since 1996.

Unpretentious in portraying the animal kingdom, Gourdeau's works combine impressions, inspirations, shapes, motion, colours and light moving to the rhythm of her encounters with her surrounding.
